Whatever the origin of the bracelet, it is of course in a style very popular and traditional in the Victorian era, a reference to the classical treatment of the snake as a symbol of regeneration/fertility and love. One only has to recall the engagement ring Prince Albert gave Queen Victoria, a snake form with emerald eyes. For the Queen Mother, the bracelet would have been associated with this history rather than with the more sinister and edgy connotation snake ornamentation has today.
