American actress and television host Joan Rivers has died recently (4 September 2014) in New-York. She was almost as much famous for her plastic surgery as for her television career. This sad event gives us an opportunity to focus on a more glittering aspect of her life.
She had a nice collection of jewels - whether her own property or on loan from jewellers. Among others, she had the opportunity to wear the necklace and earrings of the large peridot and diamond parure made circa 1825 for Archduchess Henriette (1797-1829, wife of Archduke Charles, "the victor of Aspern Battle") and later worn in 1916 by Charles and Henriette's grand-daughter-in-law, Archduchess Isabella (1856-1931, wife of Archduke Frederick of Habsburg-Teschen).
Joan Rivers wore the necklace and the earrings from this peridot parure on 25 January 2004, for the 61st Golden Globe Awards ceremony in Beverly Hills, California. If I well remember, these elements of the parure were loaned from a jeweller (Fred Leighton, I think).
