Queen Alexandra and fake pearls Archived Message

I read that Queen Alexandra of Great Britain, who had a big collection of jewels, sometimes asked a friend of hers to buy some strings of fake pearls in Paris, to wear together with her real pearls and other precious gems. Apparently, once one of these fake ropes of pearls broke while HM Queen Alexandra was on her way to the State Opening of Parliament. The story goes that the Queen did not step out of the carriage, until the last pearl was picked up, fake as they were!
