Aquamarines could have been the favorite gem of the late Queen Fabiola. Knowing that, her husband King Baudouin could perfectly have given several aquamarines to his beloved wife. Nevertheless Queen Fabiola could also have bought herself some stones and have received others as wedding presents for example. HM might have decided not to wear the coronet version of the tiara, after the death of King Baudouin, because considered it too grand for a dowager queen. I believe that the number of tiara appearences of Queen Fabiola decreased through the years after her husband passed away. About the possibility of King Baudouin having offered the tiara to his nieces, I find it unlikely because this particular tiara was personal property of Queen Fabiola. I have the same doubt about other jewels. The death of the king was, as far as I know, quite unexpected and besides that it would be strange for the king to deprive his wife of the use of jewels in favor of nieces or other relatives.
