Queen Mathilde wears Queen Fabiola Wolfers tiara but not her earrings and not Queen Paola's. Previous Message I don’t think it are the same earrings as Queen Paola…. It is indeed a nice piece. Hopefully it is the Queen's own and that we will see it more in the future. But do we know it is an aquamarine? Could it not also be a Sapphire? In some photos it looks a bit "too blue" to appear as an aquamarine (to my very inexepertly eyes). I was also very glad to see that she did indeed bring a tiara with her even though the dress code for the State Dinner was black-tie. Something that maybe others could take notice of And orders were worn, even though they were only the smaller pins. I have seen at some black-tie State Dinners in the past (also in Lithuania) that the gentlemen have worn at least the Breast Star pinned to their jacket. Is that now not done? Yes it is good to see that Queen Mathilde brought oout a tiara for a black tie Dinner unlike her college from Spain last week. Interesting also that the spanish royal Couple did not wear the minatures of the german order of Merit at the State Dinner, unlike Queen Margrethe, Crown Prince Frederik and the dutch King and Queen last year. There where several royal State visit to GErmany and each time the dre4sscode was blacki tuie. And all from Grand Duchess Maria Teresa, Queen Sonja, Queen Silviam Queen Margrethe then Queen Beatrix wore tiara. Queen Margrethe even worethe entire pearl-poiree opaure wich is one of her most important big Sets of Jewels. Somehehere it is said as Queen Sofia did not wear tiaras at State visits to Republics Queen Letizia is following her example. Pity that she does it not her own way as she does in other things but i guess she doe not like to wear tiaras and one wears one when necessary. Previous Message Indeed Stefan. And I wonder as to why was last year's state dinner in honour of the Dutch royal couple in Germany a tiara event (Queen Máxima wore the smaller version of the House Diamonds tiara for the first time, but no sash, only a small ribbon pin with an order) and the same did not happen in the Spanish visit. It was also a black tie event but the Dutch queen wore a tiara, so my guess is that it was a personal criteria of both queens. So, bravo to Queen Máxima and Queen Mathilde for keeping these black tie events as tiara events, as apparently Queen Letizia only wears tiaras when visiting other monarchies. Stefan

Yes, so its a personal choice of the queen (in that case the Queen of Spain) not to wear a tiara. I am very glad Queen Mathilde also chose to wear a tiara, inspight of the evening being "only" a black tie event. Also in the state visit to Portugal Queen Letizia chose not to wear a tiara, and that was a white tie event. The Duchess of Bragança wore one (as she always does at white tie state visit dinners), so we saw the duchess of a deposed royal house looking more regal than the consort queen of a reigning monarchy... Looking ones best when one is the guest of honour is a polite way of honouring our hosts, and I've always felt that that, in a way, made these visits (and countries) be considered of a lesser importance. And that is not very considered towards the hosts. If you are a Queen atending a very formal event where such an acessory is of proper use, and if you have a tiara, then by all means do wear it. That is what they are made for. Hoping for the next state visits, and hopefully to see a lot of tiaras being worn Can someone please tell me if we have any other royal State Visit prior to the November South Africa to UK state visit? Yes whe have even a royxal-royal State Vist as the swedish King and Queen will pay a State Visit to Jordan. But i don't expect tiaras there as the have usually black tie State Dinner in Jordan And there will be a dutch State Vist to Greeece and the italien President will make a State Visit to the Netherlands. My guess... no tiara for Queen Maxima in Athens.... because the 'state banquet' is not a black tie event.... search for photos of the state visit from Belgium to Greece.... Mathilde didn't wear a tiara and the king was wearing a suit and a tie. I am sure we can count on Queen Máxima for a tiara in Athens and of course back home for the italian state visit. As for the swedish visit to Jordan I expect at least some hair ornament on Queen Silvia... A pity if its not a tiara event, as Queen Rania wore an all emerald tiara some years ago in Sweden.

Thank you GertJan. Oh no... only a sort of "cocktail event"... At least some hair ornament on the Queen's hair please. She sometimes wears brooches as hair ornaments and it looks lovely.
