Both the Duchess of Brabant and the Princess of Orange are at an age they could attend such an event as the official representative of their country. Elisabeth has her own tiara bought for her so if she attends (she studies in the UK so it would be easy) what tiara she'll wear is not a big guess. Im expecting Amalia to be the main Dutch representative but i'd love it if she was joined by her grandmother Beatrix. No longer a reigning sovereign herself she could attend and it would be nice to see both of them together. For Beatrix i'd love the diamond fringe tiara as we have never seen her in it and the large diamonds on top make for an impressive piece. Amalia would look great in the Mellerio Ruby tiara. It's one of the big pieces but both her mother and grandmother wore it before becoming queen. Spain may see Queen Sofia as it's representative unless there is another diplomatic row over Gibraltar.If she does the shell tiara would be a nice one to wear. Liechtenstein will probably see the hereditary prince and princess attend. Sophie usually wears the fringe tiara. I think Albert II of Monaco could very well break with protocol again and attend the coronation of Charles III himself (he did so attending the investiture of king Willem-Alexander) so it's possible princess Charlene might be there as well. Hopefully in her larger tiara. An other option would be for princess Caroline to represent her brother she could wear either one of her grandmother's tiara's. Im not sure Stephanie of Luxembourg will attend. Her baby is due in april so may 6th might be a bit too soon for her to join her husband. That’s interesting that The Prince and Princess of Monaco will attend. Prince Rainier did not attend the 1953 coronation, and was instead represented by his father The Duke of Valentinois. I assumed The Princess of Hanover would attend, perhaps wearing Princess Charlotte’s fringe tiara. Previous Message I believe it was confirmed by the palace that Pc Albert and Pss Charlene will both be present at the coronation. Perhaps she will surprises us and finally wear a tiara from the family collection, or at least her saphire waves tiara. As for the expected jewels, I was hoping to see Pss Mette-Marit wearing Queen Maud's diamond tiara for the first time. That would be splendid.

There is also a tradition that the norwegian emerald Parure is worn to coronations as it was worn at the last three coronations (but the first time it was still in Sweden then). But somehow i doubt that we will see CP MM wearing it on 06. May Previous Message I understand why you think of the ruby parure. Although Juliana as heir apparent attended (with Bernhard) the corononation in 1937 I highly doubt Amalia will attend and certainly not alone. She has no experience representing her country at any international stage and is not considered a 'working royal' yet. Until now she only accompanied her parents a few times. Going by herself to London might be a bit daunting and a bridge to far for her at this stage. Specially with her current security situation. Maxima, or - as you also suggested - Princess Beatrix could go and or accompany Amalia. In 1953 it was Bernhard ( as Prince Consort) who attended the coronation. I am sure he enjoyed himself immensely . Previous British coronations were very glittering events. Royals, foreign and domestic, decked themselves out with their grandest jewels. I didn't think anyone's attendance has been confirmed by Buckingham Palace. It's still all just speculation. I bet we'll see a lot of jewels that came down from British princesses who married abroad. Zara Tindall and The York Princesses

I think The Princess Royal could surprise everyone and wear a tiara associated with her mother. Failing that, I think she would opt for the Greek Key, which would leave either the Festoon or the Aquamarine pinecones for Zara. My money is on the aquamarines for Zara, if she wears a tiara at all. As for The Yorks, well Sarah, Duchess of York has only one tiara to loan, which means they might have to select something from the larger collection. Perhaps just the Greville emeralds and the Fringe again, as worn at their wedding. If they wear tiaras at all, that is. I think she will. If Charles and Camilla invited her for the family Christmas celebrations at Sandringham i think it's likely she'll sit with Andrew and their daughters. So she will probably wear her own tiara and Beatrice and Eugenie need tiara's. I don't know what Queen Elizabeth did with her personal jewels though i find it a safe bet to assume they were left to Charles. That would not exclude her giving the right to use some of them to her granddaughters. At the same time both of them seem to have enough money to be able to buy something for themselves. I see no reason why the Princess of Orange could not represent her country. The coronation is on a saturday so will not interfere with her studies. She could fly to London on friday afternoon and either stay with aunt Mabel and her cousins or at the residence of the Dutch ambassador. The princess will only need to attend but not asked to give speeches or do much herself. Not too much to ask from a young woman. She herself has admitted to loving tiara's and this is possibly the most glittering event that will take place in decades so i think she will very much enjoy the spectacle. Amalia is enough of a taciturn Orange to want it. I do think she'll go with her grandmother as it would be a very special outing for the two of them and Beatrix is close to Charles. Maxima is a less likely choice for the event. She would have attended if the heiress was still under 18 and Beatrix was no longer able to go. In this case Amalia and Beatrix make for a safe pair of hands. Had Alexia turned 18 before the day she might have gone with her sister but her 18th birthday is on june 26th making it unlikely she'll perform any official duties before that date. In the unusual circumstance that Sarah is allowed to attend with her companion/ex-husband, I would imagine she would have to wear just an evening gown with her wedding tiara and no robe and coronet, with the diamond demi-parure that Elizabeth and Philip bought for her. Sarah is neither a Princess of The UK & NI, nor a Peeress, so she wouldn’t qualify to wear the robe and coronet of either. Still, it will be nice to see her Edwardian wedding tiara see the light of day again, if Charles III see fit to allow her to attend with her family. Previous Message I think she will. Amalia by herself would be completely lost in those overwhelming surroundings! She really needs more time and guidance if you ask me. And as for Mabel: she is NOT a very likely candidate to accompany the Dutch heir presumptive. She has no royal profile to speak of other than being the widow of the younger brother of the present King. Surely no robes aside from King and Queen? Imagine the nightmare of all those robes been taken from the mothballs and glass displays across the country: expensive repairs, alterations... let alone those silly (fake) coronets. I have seen some of the Ducal cheap gilded coronets up close: believe me those do not look good on anybody in 2023..... I am interested in and appreciative of the history offered by commenters here. But I'm surprised to see the discussion of tiara possibilities for the May 6 coronation of King Charles III. With the announcements so far of reducing the number of woriking royals, a smaller ceremony with only a portion of the current peers and MPs in attendance, many seats being reserved for members of charitable organizations and the National Health Service, etc., it is jarring to imagine Queen Elizabeth's granddaughters, cousins, or members of foreign royal families wearing tiaras. If I had to make a prediction, I'd imagine just Charles and Camilla wearing crowns/tiaras. Maybe, at a stretch, the Princess of Wales, Princess Royal, and other female working royals. Not only is it to be a modernized ceremony, but also the British Royal family has several delicate dilemmas of status and inclusion among the King's brothers, sons, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, various in-laws, former in-laws, and so on. I also think (should they be invited) the Peeresses will be relieved they don’t have to cover their lovely gowns with those short-sleeved robes. It might have made sense decades and centuries ago, but nowadays I think a well-dressed woman would be self-conscious over fit issues with a bulky robe making her look…well, bulky. As robes are being worn every year at the state opening of parliament... would not it be a bit weird not to see any at a coronation? but then they are being worn again at the next opening of parliament? And I hope the peeresses wear something other than hat and suit... so the coronation will stand out - compared to the opening of parliament... after all most people only experience 1 or 2 coronations during their life time. Im not sure it's a good idea for those children to attend. But i would very much prefer the lounge suits and morning suits to not make an appearance at the coronation. This is THE most GALA event of Charles III's reign. I want everybody in gala => white tie or robes. I'd love to see all the ladies who can beg, steal or borrow a tiara to wear one. Even the ones in a choir or orchestra. I want the entire Royal Family in the robes and with trains. I want all foreign royals to be in their best outfits. There is basically no difference in price between renting a white tie or renting a morning suit. A woman having to dress up in day wear with a hat is probably spending as much as one buying, loaning or renting a long gown or evening dress. The only difference is that the gala outfits will look so much more in style with the ceremony and give a much grander appearance while the day wear just looks like a funeral or at best a garden party. I think we should think more about the dress code in the Netherlands / Japan during the inauguration ( long dress with hat for the ladies ) But I hope also that we can see some tiaras. If I had the honour and previledge to be invited to the Coronation of the King of England I certainly would want to look my absolute best (even if I had to borrow some items/gowns/jewels for it). People go to weddings, garden parties, galas, state visits etc. all the time, but this is a once in a reign ocasion (or perhaps a once in a lifetime) so I do hope the organizers of the ceremony understand that and act accordingly in terms of dress code. It would simply be a bit ridicoulous if such a grand event's dress code for the guests would be at the same level of a wedding or a garden party... At least at the level of a white tie gala please, where ladies can wear their finest jewels (meaning tiaras) and gentleman wear their decorations and orders.

The Duchess is most unlikely to attend the coronation. If she was to attend she'd have to provide her own tiara as she never was given one. So a buy or loan would be her two options. If she loans a piece that tiara has to either be part of a collection of a friend or relative or it has to be part of a commercial collection. Considering the way but the duchess and her husband have spoken about his family i don't expect that side of the family loaning anything. The Earl Spencer is media savvy enough to realise that H&M have lost their market value not only in the realms of his once brother-in-law but also in the USA so a loan from the limited Spencer collection also is unlikely. Leaving Meghan the option of either finding a third party wiling to loan her a tiara or simply buy one. She and Harry ar worth a few millions so spending something between 250 thousand Dollars and a million dollars would provide her with a piece worthy of the monarch's daughter-in-law. Still i fail to see how Harry either on his own or with his wife could attend the ceremony fixing his father as sovereign. That ceremony could seen a situations where Harry is required to swear allegiance to the new King. In such a scenario Harry could never ever critisize his family anymore for the duration of Charles III's reign. Im expedition both Harry and Meghan to stay in the USA and not to attend his father's coronation. Sad but true. The investiture in the Netherlands is not a coronation and it was not like the enthronement ceremony in Japan. It is a completely different ball game. You sound like a football match is like a chess tournament or a figure skating championship. They are in their own right all very different and demand different approaches. The coronations is about crowns and coronets. It's about robes and tiaras. That makes the coronation of a UK sovereign a special event and a spectacle. If it becomes like the swearing in ceremony of a Belgian sovereign it's also becomes time to abolish the monarchical system in the UK. The UK has a long history (unlike the Netherlands or post WWII Japan) of coronations. Their traditions surrounding the coronation ar part of what makes the country special. If you start to treat it like any other swearing in ceremony the special posisition and instalment of the UK sovereign is lost. That would be a shame. I think it would be hugely hypocritical and damaging for them if they would decide to attend the ceremony while not being reconciled with at least King Charles and Queen Camila. Charles has no option but to invite them because PR wise: damned if you do and damned if you don't. I just hope these two odd-balls will find the moral strength on their own to excuse themselves and NOT attend. If they would be conflicted I suggest their BFFs Gayle, Ellen and Oprah can stage an intervention on prime time television to dissuade them from going. Charles and his advisers will have found an elegant way by now to have a SHORT but elaborate coronation ceremony fitting the times. He only had decades to ponder about this. I am sure its only gory details now like how to deal with the Sussexes.... From what we have learned so-far it will be a more inclusive ceremony and that would suggest less focus on the bling bling but I could be wrong of course. Yes, there will be some robes and perhaps a few coronets and tiaras in the first rows but seeing less bling bling than in 1953 should not lower the grandeur of the ceremony itself. Much of the bling bling worn by the aristocracy in 1953 has been sold off anyway. The coronations is about crowns and coronets. It's about robes and tiaras. That makes the coronation of a UK sovereign a special event and a spectacle. If it becomes like the swearing in ceremony of a Belgian sovereign it's also becomes time to abolish the monarchical system in the UK. The UK has a long history (unlike the Netherlands or post WWII Japan) of coronations. Their traditions surrounding the coronation ar part of what makes the country special. If you start to treat it like any other swearing in ceremony the special posisition and instalment of the UK sovereign is lost. That would be a shame. If I had the honour and previledge to be invited to the Coronation of the King of England I certainly would want to look my absolute best (even if I had to borrow some items/gowns/jewels for it). People go to weddings, garden parties, galas, state visits etc. all the time, but this is a once in a reign ocasion (or perhaps a once in a lifetime) so I do hope the organizers of the ceremony understand that and act accordingly in terms of dress code. It would simply be a bit ridicoulous if such a grand event's dress code for the guests would be at the same level of a wedding or a garden party... At least at the level of a white tie gala please, where ladies can wear their finest jewels (meaning tiaras) and gentleman wear their decorations and orders.

Clearly the royal family is a very dangerous environment. Especially for an ex military pilot who single handedly killed 25 Taliban fighters sitting in his heavy armoured killer helicopter. Confronting his family is potentially much much more dangerous for his physical and mental state.. Perhaps it is best Harry stays away - for good. Previous Message It would be very awkward if the Sussexes were to attend the Coronation. The British media is still obsessed with them and the leaking from the palaces is very regular. Also how would you feel if your husband that had been physically abused to the extent that he was bruised and cut and bleeding had to pretend that everything was fine when it’s clearly not. I too would want to protect my children from the potential harm not only from family members but also from being paraded out for PR events.
