The Gown had nothing to do with it as she’d changed into a black gown for the ending as you can see when it cuts to the line up and she’s appeared. It was only the walk on she didn’t do and I believe it was for a number of reasons but mainly that she should have closed the show as top of the bill but the RVP production team chose Jane McDonald that year.
