First Up: 'Tobacco Road' (1941)
I actually watch this one once or twice a year. Just love the story of poor old Jeeter Lester and his suffering family. Played as a comedy for the most part but it does have some touching moments, like when Jeeter and Ada accept the inevitable and start walking off to the Poor House.
No TAGS alumni that I'm aware of but there is a whole raft of classic character actors from the golden age of film.
Jeeter: "Lov, I'll trade ya' that whole carload of wood there fer that croaker-sack of turnips."
Lov Bensey: "I ain't tradin' turnips with nobody."
