Link: THE COMMITMENTS- DARK END OF THE STREET
He turns them into an amazing group but the only time they can stand each other is when they're on stage. Just as they're about to receive a record deal, they end up in a major brawl and everyone quits. Not your typical, "rocket to fame, crash and burn," new-band movie, and I like that. As Joey told the band's young manager, "Yeah, we could've been famous and made records, but that would have been predictable. This way, it's poetry."
The soundtrack is great; all classic, R&B/Soul tunes. I really enjoyed the movie a lot more this time around since my music tastes have changed in the 15 years since I've seen it. I've watched it 4 times in the past 2 months!
