Right now he is just another strong guy who blends into the crowd. He needs something to make him stand out. He is loaded with ionic energy, so why not have him use it to his advantage? Next time Ares tries to sucker punch Simon, I would love to see Wondy turn around and give Ares an ionic energy blast right to the face!
I said it before and I'll say it again-an ionic "human torch" version of Wonder Man would be almost unstopable! He was almost there when Busiek gave him his ionic form. The next natural progression would be to shoot it out as blasts, energy balls, or if ganged up by 10 or so people-Super Nova!!! Lets's see The Sentry withstand THAT!
If you want to give him a downside to using EP you could say it weakens him when he emits his ionic energy for long periods because it would be the same as if we gave blood. So he could only do this sparingly, if you like. But on the same token, it would be cool if he could drain other ionic beings(such as Atlas and Nefaria)or sources to get stronger, as Nefaria has done. Next time Count Nefaria detonates an Ionic Bomb, Simon could absorb it and instead of nearly getting "killed", he would be drunk with power for a time and have to deal with being too powerful!
The times have changed, so must "The Man of Wonders"!

: I'll tell you more, some years ago when Busiek
: was writing Avengers I'm sure Wonder Man
: rated above Hercules and Ares. I guess we
: will have to wait until a writer comes and
: shows some love for Wonder Man and takes him
: back to his rightfull place.

: I know that we are all sick of it. We've
: had
: enough of it. It is getting to the point
: where it is unbearable. Wonder Man bumped
: down to third, nay, fourth string character
: time and time again.
:
: So, I am reading through the Cup O' Joe
: panel from the New York Comic Con going on
: this weekend and I run across this little
: tidbit from Mr. Quesada:
:
: While a fan was asking about a possible
: Ares/Thor fight...Quesada then returned to
: the question, saying that Marvel know has
: four "very heavy hitters" in Thor,
: Ares, Hercules, and the Sentry, and that the
: fan might be on the right track.
: "There's some definite, long-term plans
: there," said Buckley.
:
: Everything that has ever been published by
: Marvel states that Wonder Man is on par,
: strength-level, with Thor and Hercules. So
: why the sudden omission by the Editor In
: Chief?
:
: Regardless, this is just me complaining. If
: anybody else feels like joining in, have at
: it.
:
: Until next time - Dave
