I have nothing against Scholz personally, because when I was beginning to get into classical music I was able to rapidly build a library of CDs costing only $2-3. Some of those recordings still stand up very well.
You might well be on to something there, Jeffrey - thank you. After all, The Mozart-Quartett Salzburg are a proper, fine outfit and have definitely recorded both the "Dissonance" and the "Milanese" Qaurtets, of which no. 3 K156 and no. 7 K160 are fillers on the disc I have. Unfortunately, I cannot find any recordings with timings that match mine but I suspect that is as close as we are going to get with an educated guess.
I have two of the "Pilz" cd recordings of the "Haydn" Quartets...unfortunately not the one which includes the "Dissonance". The performers are stated to be the Mozarteum Quartet Salzburg, the members being Karlheinz Franke (violin 1) Vladislav Markovic (violin 2 ) Phillipe Dussol (viola) Heinrich Amminger (cello). It could all be part of the theft and deceit syndrome but the Discogs site gives some basic information for Dussol and Amminger including that Amminger was a member of the Mozarteum Orchester from 1955 to 1990. Whether or not such information comes from dodgy sources I have no idea whatsoever. I haven't listened to the performances for some time but have retained the impression that they were just "So-so."
