I don't believe that it is possible to truly identify which collet necklace this is, without looking at the various jewellery inventories and tracking which diamonds rivieres were given to Princess Margaret at different times. What we do know is that Queen Mary had 8 diamond collet necklaces at the time of her death in 1953; of which he left one, 'Queen Mary's Lady Mount Stephen Necklace' to Princess Margaret (which was subsequently sold at auction). As for Princess Margaret's second collet necklace, now worn by Lady Sarah. This could well have been another bequest from Queen Mary, or perhaps a bequest from George VI, or a gift at some point from Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother; or indeed a gift from The Queen. There seem to be so many diamond rivieres constantly being altered and changing hands in the Windsor collection, is it impossible to know which is which without carefully pouring over the countless inventories in the Royal Archives. --Previous Message-- : : Could it be that Lady Sarah Chatto wears the : diamond rivière that Queen Mary wore as a : bride?
