The center of the cut steel earrings only appears to be dark in that pic – actually, there’s no dark center to match the ‘new’ tiara. Here’s a couple of shots showing them clearer, as worn by Queen Silvia along with the large tiara and choker during a state visit to Iceland in 1987:
