Re: Mellerio Necklace Tiara Archived Message

Certainly not the most fortunate of necklace/tiaras conversion... It looks so much better as a necklace. And such a pity they no longer have the beautiful and classical saphire tiara worn by Dss Marie Therese.
Some threads bellow Vincent explained how easy it was to mount this necklace on the frame and turn it into a tiara in just a few moments. Because of the nacklace's peculiar shape once we see it placed on the head, I do agree it probably seems more dificult than actually is...
For what I can see, I assume the necklace is somewhat rigid, so it seems not to position well in the lady's head, creating a rather big gap.

However I must say I am very glad that this piece is still in the family, after almost all of the jewels, mainly the saphire parure, had been sold. And I love versatile jewels, so I'm glad the Duchess is inventiv with her jewels and tries to wear them in diferent versions.

My question now is, has this necklace always had an optional tiara frame, or was the frame created recently so it could be worn as tiara, since the family's tiaras were mostly sold and there was none for the Duchess to wear?

    Thanks
