I guess I'm in the minority as I like the piece as a tiara as well as a necklace. I really love the contrast of the deep blue sapphires to the diamonds. Thank you so much Vincent for your valuable explanations and you're right in that many pieces were constructed for bouffant hair styles which isn't seen anymore. Thank you Nathanial for the lovely large photos.

: Thank you very much Vincent for your detailed
    : information on the necklace/tiara.
: And yes, as often is mentioned here, a
: hairstyle can sometimes make all the
: diference in the appearance of a tiara.
: Ladies in past decades wore much more
: substantial hair styles that were perfect
    : for tiara placing .

    :
: First of all that tiara was created in the
: 1950s and was designed for a very bouffant
: hair style. At the time a woman wearing a
: tiara could hide the frame in her hair which
: were coiffed very highly on the head. It is
: not made to be worn on a flat hair style.
    :
: The tiara frame was created on 1957 with the
: necklace and when you open the box, you just
: have to remove the necklace and remove the
: bottom of the box. Under it there is a kind
: of secret box where the frame is hidden.
    :
: As i already said the frame is in two parts
: : one to fix the front part of the necklace
: and one that you fix in the middle of the
: frame and which keeps the tiara on your
: head. That second part of the frame is a
: kind of round thin white gold structure
: which goes from the back all around the head
: to the central part of the tiara. Once the
: parts have been fixed it is a very
    : comfortable tiara.
