Their will be two ceremonies on april 30th. In the morning there will be a ceremony in the palace (most likely in the Moseshall) where the Queen in the presence of members of the Royal House and the ministers and underministers will sign her bill of abdication. This will be followed (if the procedures of 1948 and 1980 are an example) by a presentation the balcony. Here the abdicated monarch will present the Dutch nation their new sovereign. In the afternoon the inauguration will take place in Amsterdam (this is required by the constitution so no other location is possible). By tradition the ceremony will take place in the building known as the new Church. This former church (now it's no longer a house of worship but an exhibition hall) has been the location of the swearing-in ceremonies of sovereign prince Willem I (he was sworn in as King at the Royal Square in Brussels), King Willem II, King Willem III, Queen Wilhelmina, Queen Juliana and Queen Beatrix. This ceremony is one where the monarch wears the ermine line mantle of state. The crown, sceptre, orb, sword of state and constitution are on a table in front of the monarch. Going by the tradition women of the family are in long gowns and wear their orders. Maxima might be wearing a tiara, but it is in no way certain. Other women of the Royal House might wear a tiara but could also be attending with headpieces or hats (as was done in 1980 and 1948). In the evening there will be a special programm. The contence and the dresscode for that event is unknown. Im hoping for a white tie event with Queen Maxima wearing the Stuart Parure. --Previous Message-- : With the nejs from Queen Beatrice. : What will be the first state visits. : Belgium, luxemburg. : What kind of ceremony Will we see? : : :
