Thank you for sharing that story Hans. As a catholic I know how some priests can be "more papist than the Pope", as we say in my country . If it was a morning event it would not look that nice wearing a tiara indeed, anyway that priest should stick to the guidance of his flock instead of giving jewelry protocolary advice .
I just remembered how the wife of the Lord Mayor of London often wears a tiara in tiara events at the Guildhall. I assume she necesseraly is not a noble herself, it's a tiara event and she can borrow one and wear it. I certainly would do the same if I had the chance!
