A really beautiful set as I said on your previous thread. To me it also looks like old silver, diamonds and pearls. Sadly I have no information on its provenance. Dona Isabel wore it at least one more time during the first year of her marriage. It was during a gala event where Pc Alexander of Schaumburg-Lippe and his (then) wife Pss Lili were present, I remember seing it on Hola magazine. I remember seing the Duchess wearing only the earrings and the matching stomacher this time. So mostly likely this set has been away from public eye for nearly 20 years... And a question: did the portuguese nobility present their new Duchess with any jewelry gift? It would be logical to do so I think! Finally the Duke was getting married and there hasn't been a Duchess since 1968! What about her parents, did they gave her any jewel as wedding gift? I never read anything on this subject... --Previous Message-- : 1995 was a very special year in Portugal: for : the first time in more than 100 years the : country was going to see a royal wedding. : D.Duarte Pio João, Head of the Royal House : of Portugal and Duke of Braganza was getting : married to D.Isabel Herédia, a Portuguese : noble young woman. : : On 12th may (the wedding’s eve) a Royal Gala : took place at Queluz National Palace (an : historical old building that once was Royal : Summer Residence and where many important : portuguese historical events took place – : check wikipedia for more details e : pictures). : At this Gala D.Isabel appeared wearing a : head ornament (and brooches?) with matching : earrings and devant de corsage. : : I have no information about these pieces but : it seems to me to be old silver jewellery : set with diamonds (?) and pearls. : : : : : : : :
