Unfortunatelly I have no closeup of the stomacher/longer brooch. In fact I called it a stomacher because the Duchess wore it, at least two times, like a stomacher is to be worn originally I think, placed centrally, some centimeters above the waist line (on the stomach area ). The first of your pics also shows it clearly bellow the buttons on Dona Isabel's dress. From what I can see on all the pics, it seems the stomacher/long brooch is a mirrored design of the earrings, perhaps a bit smaller. It would be wonderful to find a bigger photo of this piece so we could see all the details (lets hope Dona Isabel decides to take it from the vaults and wears it again soon ) Here is the best pic I have (not much I'm afraid...) screen capture And of course you are right on the Por Bem brooch! I forgot it, and of course that was a wonderful wedding gift to the new Duchess! I am sure our fellow posters will love the story of this brooch, we will get there in next threads . And I really keep hoping that more nobles had made such kind of gifts. Perhaps some info will come in future times. --Previous Message-- : Do you have any picture of the stomacher? : Almost 20 years since the last time we saw : this set: this must be some kind of record! : : The only jewel that I know for sure that was : presented by a noble family was the Por Bem : brooch from one of the Cadaval House : branches. : : The parents of D.Duarte also received : interesting pieces but not I'm not sure if : any from the Portuguese Nobility. : However, more information on those later. :
