This means that the ears-of-wheat was created with emeralds, according the invoice by Vita Israël? Or is there confusion with the emerald diadem we know today?
Anyway. It was quite an expensive purchase for a few ears-of-wheat. According the calculator on the website of the International Institute for Social History (IISG) an amount of ƒ 8.000,-- in the year 1884 has the same value as ƒ 200.394,-- (€ 90.935,-- or US $ 124,500.--) in the year 2012.
