I had half expected to see a few long dresses last night but that was clearly not the dress code.
Everything about their visit has been understated, tending to the everyday ways and styles of the people they were meeting, whom I am sure were from fields of endeavour that interested the couple.
There was no event to pander to the egos of "names" who might need to be seen in the right company.
I think we have seen the Cambridge style.

: There is only one reason and one reason only
: for wearing little jewelery for a woman:
    : TASTE.
: It is only a matter of taste.
: If a woman (however poor or rich) likes to
: wear broches, bracelets, earrings, rings SHE
    : WILL !
: That Kate doesn't like wearing (much)
    : jewelery is obvious.
: Just as it is clear that the present
: sovereign-princess of Monaco does not like
    : to wear jewels.
    :
: Lets be honoust: do you know of any woman in
: your social circle that loves jewelery but
: never wears jewels because she cannot afford
    : it?
: Hahaha still have to meet the first woman
    : like that.
    :
: I always find it nice to see the big pieces
    : come out.
: The pieces with a lot of tradition.
: That's why I am happy with the likes of
: Máxima and Mary, who "Dare to
    : Wear".
: But first there must be a love for jewels.

: I think the "austerity" excuse is
: going to have to last a very long time,
: decades, if that's the reasoning.
