Even though I can't speak for the Duchess, I've wondered if HRH has avoided the bling and sparkles not only because she may not be a big fan of bling, but may feel that she's a newcomer to the Royal Family and feels she may be looked at as inappropriate in wearing the spectacular Royal jewels or as overstepping her place.
