Of course, we will probably never know, but I would be personally very surprised that the artist - whose rendition, in this portrait, looks quite accurate, with little artistic licence - would have decided to "skip" the necklace and paint only the central pendant as a brooch... and by an extraordinary coincidence, he would have done that precisely with a necklace whose central element can be worn as a brooch! To me, it is more probable that the Queen simply decided to wear the necklace's central element as a brooch (as she wore the naval cloak, with a high collar, a necklace was not necessary), and the artist's painting was faithful in every detail to hist most illustrious model. --Previous Message-- : : I think the Queen could have been wearing : the necklace and the artist included only a : certain amount of detail. : : : --Previous Message-- : I agree that the artist was definitely : portraying QV's Jubilee Necklace.
