I don't know whether any of you share my view, but I have always found this necklace one of the least inspired and tasteless in HM's collection. The crown on top of the central element spoils the balance of the design and the result is plain ugly and "tacky". When comparing it to the elegant, demure effect of the similar necklace in Pricess Alexandra's possession it is outright disastrous. I hope whomever wears it in the future will wear the crown element as a brooch. Or, just to be on the safe side, throw it away... --Previous Message-- : As Arthur said, we will likely never know, : however I do think the depiction of the : jewels in the portrait is much more : impressionistic than realistic. : : For example the line of diamonds that snakes : along the top of the tiara was seemingly not : depicted. : : : : And looking at the third pearl from the : center on the right, it seems to be : suspended from a heart instead of a circle. : : :
