Very valid illustration of artistic licence. I doubt that any artist (and I paint myself...)would be likely to go so close to HMs neck to get the precise and minute detail need to photographically portray the difference between the full necklace and just the pendant - similarly with those waves on the tiara. All that is required is a likeness. And let's be honest, who but a group of jewels fiends such as we are here would even notice? --Previous Message-- : As Arthur said, we will likely never know, : however I do think the depiction of the : jewels in the portrait is much more : impressionistic than realistic. : : For example the line of diamonds that snakes : along the top of the tiara was seemingly not : depicted. : : : : And looking at the third pearl from the : center on the right, it seems to be : suspended from a heart instead of a circle. : : :
