Yes, thank you Mauriz, CP Mary earrings do seem like portuguese filigree gold earrings. I believe this is not the first time I´ve seen her wearing them, the other time was at a more casual event sometime ago. Here´s the Duchess of Braganza wearing similar ones, they are called "Brincos à Rainha" (Queen style earrings), these were the larger of the traditional fifligree earrings (credits: Homem Cardoso) Large portuguese filigree jewelry became quite fashionable in recent years when movie stars (namely Sharon Stone) star wearing it. Here´s a link to these pieces at the museum of jewelry. To see more of these beautiful pieces just click on the list on the right (yellow letters) http://www.museudaourivesaria.com/pecas_brincos_rainha.htm Thank you Arthur for the big photos where we can have a good look at the earrings, I´ve seen only smaller photos of CP Mary at this event so far. I am intrigued as to where did CP Mary bought her portuguese earrings or whom gifted them to her. Did she visited the North of Portugal (these pieces are taditional from the north region of Minho)?? Portuguese filigree jewels are really materpieces of crafstman skills and are so beautiful, I´m very glad that this art is being apreciated also outside Portugal. I do hope to see her wearing them more often, they are stunning and look fabulous on her. --Previous Message-- : : The earrings look like those traditional : Portuguese gold filigree earrings Cristina : wrote about a couple of months ago: : : : : :
