--Previous Message-- : : : --Previous Message-- : : In a post above Arthur posted some : interesting photos showing the two strand : necklace which matches the necklace worn by : QEII which has a ruby clasp - and to my eye : it looks as if there are 2 rubies, one above : the other.(there is also a photo of that) : : http://members2.boardhost.com/royal-jewels/msg/1421085265.html : : This necklace appears to have remained with : the Queen Mother. It can be seen in various : photos. One characteristic of this necklace : (as Baxter and Arthur have previously : mentioned) is that on the lower of the two : strands towards the clasp there are small : pearls in between the larger pearls. : QEQM always seems to have worn this two : strand necklace with the longer 3rd strand : which does not have a jewelled clasp. : : Here are some links to photos of QEQM : wearing the necklace. : : In 1951 : : http://www.gettyimages.com.au/detail/news-photo/queen-elizabeth-the-consort-of-king-george-vi-and-mother-of-news-photo/3134349 : : In 1955 : : http://www.gettyimages.com.au/detail/news-photo/portrait-of-queen-elizabeth-smiling-12th-july-1955-news-photo/78964176 : : In 1965 : : http://www.gettyimages.com.au/detail/news-photo/queen-mother-received-a-bouquet-from-girl-guide-frances-news-photo/502822069 : : I think that the question we need to answer : is - is this necklace the Indian Pearl : necklace? : One thing which makes me think it is, is : that QEII has kept this necklace for : herself; it has not been given to the : Duchess of Cornwall to use; however, I : recognise that this does not necessarily : prove which necklace it is. : : Sorry Beth I just wrote a message & : somehow wiped it off so will have another : go! I think you could be right about the PJ : picture of the Queen Mother waving to : Britania. The clasp does look very large, : the only brooch that I know of that is dark : coloured & about that shape is the Queen : Mother`s horse shoe shaped brooch now worn : by the Duchess of Cornwall. Maybe it is that : but it is a bit unusual that she would wear : it at the back. : : : : :
