I have never seen any photos of Queen Victoria wearing amethyst jewels. Yet, The Times recorded that she did wear an amethyst necklace, earrings and brooch for various events. I presume that this would have been the Kent demi-parure but, as we have no photos, I cannot be certain about that.
My point is that, once again, we don't have a photographic record of all the jewels HM wore as a widow. On so many occasions, such as Courts, Drawing Rooms and the Opening of Parliament, photos were not taken.
For one report in The Times see 25 February 1876 p. 10. Of course, it is not unexpected to read of HM wearing amethysts as a widow.
