Thanks, Nellie, for correcting me. The return dinner took place at the British embassy, though the royal couple was hosted at the Quai d'Orsay. Unless we see a clear picture of the dinner at the Quai d'Orsay, I will remain sceptical about QEQM wearing the Greville jewels before Mrs Greville's death in 1942. None of the available and reliable sources (notably Hugh Roberts in The Queen's Diamonds) ever mentioned such an hypothesis. Considering the jewels worn by Queen Elizabeth before WW2, and the amount of jewels retained until her death in 1953 by Queen Mary, a plausible option for the third night in Paris could be Queen Mary's Fringe tiara (I suppose it is the tiara refered to as the "sunray tiara" in Merlin's post), or the Teck crescent tiara.
