I do feel sorry for anyone working in the show business. It’s a frustrating time for everyone. I don’t think producers can make any form of statement at present.
I have read the articles from Birmingham Hippodrome and Belfast Grand Opera House regarding their present position. I’ve filled in a survey for Crewe Lyceum (HQ Theatres) regarding my feelings on Covid - 19.
Producers have some incredibly difficult decisions to make and based on a recent article in The Stage, there clearly is an issue with those who have already had contracts agreed but the shows might not be staged.
Sadly until the 2m rule is lifted, it is unlikely that anything can happen. Even if actors and dancers could be kept 2m apart and the audience, how practical will it be for the toilets in the interval and exactly how long can an interval last?
