Re: Reiner, Also Sprach Zarathustra: Pristine vs. HDTT
I have just listened to that HDTT transfer, and although I have not re-listened to the Pristine issue for purposes of comparison - after surveying thirty recordings I risk overdose - I can certainly endorse its splendour. Hiss and rumble are minimal despite HDTT's caveat and the definition and dynamic range are very impressive. I cannot imagine anyone being other than delighted by it and it is superior to the RCA issue - which itself is by no means bad. I will add a note to my survey to that effect; thanks. Previous Message In his survey of recordings of this work, Ralph Moore recommends the 1954 Reiner in its Pristine Audio remastering. High Definition Tape Transfers has also remastered this performande (as well as Reiner's 1962 remake). Has anyone had a chance to compare the Pristine reissue with HDTT's?
