The Karl Johan earrings, one of the most frequently worn pair of diamond earrings worn by Queen Silvia, go back to the early 19th century and were originally in the collection of King Karl XIV Johan (= Jean Baptiste Bernadotte). He assigned the earrings to his jewelry ‘Fideikommiss’, so tro speak the forerunner of the present Bernadotte Foundation. Queen Silvia just wore them at this year’s Nobel ceremony:
