Quite amazing to realize so belatedly that the upper parts of the Brazilian earrings were already worn - for the only time - at the Nobel ceremony 1976. This also means that they are older than the pear shaped drops which Queen Silvia had made in '79, and that they might not even be meant to be worn together at all, which the way they were photographed for the TV docu suggests.
In 1976:
--Previous Message-- : isnīt Queen Silvia wearing the upper part on : her first nobel, whit the yellow dress? : : --Previous Message-- : Tamara, thank you so much for the two pics : of : CP Victoria wearing the top part of the : Brazilian earrings! : It actually drove me a bit crazy over that I : just knew I had seen them worn by someone at : one point and couldn't remember when and : where. : : I could umagine that this was really a : design that looked great on paper when : commissioned but simply did not work in : reality upon completion; my guess is that : the upper part is also just too flimsy in : comparison with the large teardrop, which : would make the design look quite : bottom-heavy. : : Queen Silvia wore her new earrings made up : from these historic stones for the first : time in 1979. : Now the question is if there's a pic hidden : somewhere which shows Queen Silvia also : wearing the upper part only... : : : --Previous Message-- : Boris..remember I created this side by side : shot of Queen Silvia wearing this pair of : earrings? : : : In my opinion, both top and bottom elements : together would look really awkward because : besides the massive look of tear drop : diamonds, the top element, which I only saw : once on CP Victoria during 2007 Gala dinner, : is quite long too, so they would really look : awkward and wouldn't suit Queen Silvia..she : looks much better with just teardrop : diamonds : : : here is the front view to show massiveness : of these diamonds .....because in the : documentary they look quite small.. : : : : : :
