Please understand that we are "not" approaching this alteration based on if we like it or not...or if Mary had blessing from Queen Margrethe or Frederik...or how dare she changed it... We are strictly discussing changes made to the "mechanics" of the basic tiara structure. The changes that were made were not valid or justified in the final look. So, based on what CP Mary said in the video, the reasons for the change, are not absolutely true after seeing thousands of photos of this tiara worn in different galas and banquets. That's all... I do not think I would care if she made additional hairpins, IF the tiara didn't go from grand to oh, it doesn't look balanced and something is off. My personal point was she should have changed the frame to fit her head and not necessarily dismantle and change the whole look of the tiara..playing around with earrings, necklace and a brooch is fine because the design allows you to play around with it and it can go back to original look...however, tiara is made of totally different manner and to achieve that airy vine leaf and berry look is not so easily achieved today. There is a reason why older pieces of jewels are appreciated and studied closely because that type of craftsmanship doesn't exist anymore...and when you have jewelers, eve high skilled ones, playing around with the old creations, well, the result in this tiara speaks for itself. good old days ... In addition, if you look at it closely, the right side of the tiara looks more filled with leaves than the left side...compare both profile photos... and it has no balance at all...by removing that one small central leaf that made tiara higher, now it looks as if its falling back and the left side (mary's side) is caving in. --Previous Message-- : IMHO it is imaterial whether we like it or not : (I do). Mary is happy with the result and : she has the blessing of the only two people : she had to consult, her husband and her : Mother in Law. : Personally I like to see that the jewel has : evolved with each wearer. It makes it that : much more versatile. While it is lovely to : see a piece being worn by, say, The Duchess : of Cornwall, in the same way it was worn by : HM The Queen Mother it is just as pleasing : to see the Cambridge Lovers Knot without the : upstanding pearls that were part of the : original construction as worn by HM Queen : Mary. : : --Previous Message-- : As much as I like that CP Mary rethink her : jewels (just as Queen Ingrid remade the : tiara when she owned it) I still think that : the very first time she wore the ruby parure : (Christiansborg Palace May 2004) was the : best. : : Cannot agree with you more : : just look how upright this tiara was...no : problem there. : : : : : : : This was a WOW imagine of this parure....I : hope one day to see it all again... : : : : --Previous Message-- : As much as I like that CP Mary rethink her : jewels (just as Queen Ingrid remade the : tiara when she owned it) I still think that : the very first time she wore the ruby parure : (Christiansborg Palace May 2004) was the : best. : : I understand that modern princesses (who : seems to want to be more smart, petite and : fashionable than regal) prefer small tiaras : and no necklaces, but it makes me very sad : when a historical important parure like the : Danish ruby set, is worn like this. It's : like removing a genue Rembrandt from its : baroque frame and put it on a bare white : wall just because a interiour designer says : it is 'hot'... : : : : :
