Dear Bjarne, As much as I enjoy and appreciate your posts and information that you share with us, there is no point in insulting our intelligence. A lot of people here seem to be experts..... This is not the first time you have expressed yourself that we are NO experts, and what makes one an expert? We share the same passion and enthusiasm that you have and we are doing pretty good job making our arguments valid. In the future I would personally appreciate that you follow the same rules as all the members on this board do and be little more sensitive to members feelings. I am speaking not just for myself, in this case Sincerely, Tamara --Previous Message-- : I have seen the new tiara. I have held it in : my hands and I have talked with the Crown : Princess about it. : : I told her that I find the alteration : absolutely beautifully done and that I : understood why she wanted to reset it: : : 1) It was simply too big for her head (Queen : Ingrid had a bigger head!) : : 2) Therefore it had to lay on her hair and : that is not how a tiara shall be worn. : : 3) It was also too big at the sides which : can be seen on many photos. : : A lot of people here seem to be experts..... : : There was no tiara to this set when it was : made in 1804. There were 8 bouquets that : could be placed in the hair or on the dress : as a guirlande. : : There was also a comb, but that comb was NOT : used for the tiara. : : In 1897 a tiara was made for Princess : Alexandrine out of six of the sprays, as : that was now the fashion. This tiara was : given her at her wedding in 1898. : Alexandrine did not wear it often and only : one photo shows her with it (a photo which I : found and bought for my book many years : ago!). : : The rest of the set was inherited by King : Christian X i 1926 when Queen Louisa died. : She had a very large collection of jewelry, : and both her children and her : children-in-law inherited several jewels : from her (besides a lot of other things). : She also put a lot of jewelry in a family : foundation that was to follow the Danish : monarchs. Her will consists of 45 pages : folio - and those pages are only about her : jewels!!! : : So she did not put the rubies into the : foundation. : : King Christian X and Queen Alexandrine gave : the whole set of jewelry as a wedding : present to Queen Ingrid. She had the tiara : made bigger to match the large necklace and : eardobs. : : Queen Ingrid left the set to Crown Prince : Frederik as she wanted it to be with a wife : of the crown prince once again. : : If you think that Queen Ingrid was a : conservative person you are wrong. She : altered a lot of things so that they were : more appropriate for their times. So I am : quite convinced that she would have : understood the new alteration. : : I told the Crown Princess that I found the : new tiara beautiful and well done. I find it : absolutely more perfect as a jewelry work : now! She answered that she was very glad : that I said that, because as a matter of : fact she had been very nervous to meet me! : : BUT I am all for alterations if necessary. I : would find it quite understandable if the : Grand Duchess of Luxembourg e.g. would alter : that much too big tiara, I must say. As the : Queen of Denmark says: It is up to every : owner of the jewels to make them appropriate : for their use! : : I like the three small broaches made for her : hair. I told her to have them made so that : they could be used as brooches too. : : I am quite sure that the big necklace will : be made to a piece of jewelry that can also : be altered - and I am all for it. I even : suggested her what one might do. : : Why are so many people writing of what they : like and what they do not like! Even me! It : does not matter what opinion I might have! : : Her husband likes it and her mother-in-law : does. That's it! : : : : : : :
