The present Queen has never worn any item of it. Not the enormous diadem with the Stuart diamond (also not in an alternative much smaller setting). Not the amazing collier with extremly old square and rectangular cut thickstone diamonds. Not the giant sévigné (bow broche) with the fantastic triangular cut diamond pendants. Not the Borneo diamonds bracelet in original form.
It is very weird to think that these famous diamonds, once worn by Mary I Stuart or the famous blue diamond by Mary II Stuart, and since then by probaby all Princesses of Orange and Queens of the Netherlands, is not worn by Queen Beatrix.
Also the Bandeau with the large rose cut diamonds was only for the first time worn by Queen Beatrix after she already was 65. So maybe she is not such a stickler to big and bulky diamonds? The impressive art dèco triangular stomacher with fantastic diamonds from Queen Emma also still awaits the daylight under Beatrix.
At the other hand: she cherishes items even older than the named diamonds: the large pearlshaped natural pearls of Princess Amalia and the rest of the pearl collection are her absolute favorites. Maybe Queen Beatrix is more a pearl Queen than a diamond Queen.
