I agree. Queen Frederika, Queen Juliana Queen Elizabeth (II) and Queen Beatrix all wear/wore coiffures from another time. These hairstyles require rolling the hair, sitting under a dryer, loads of hairspray, and much assistance. While they have a cushion shape to our modern eyes, their size allows perfect placement of a tiara. Since this is 'wide' hair, the tiaras seem smaller in comparison.
--Previous Message-- : I believe it has to do with these young ladies : hairdos. Frederika use to wear her hair in a : way that all tiaras looked perfectly : positioned. : : --Previous Message-- : Thanks for the screenshots! : Its a truly magnificant piece of jewelery. : And indeed it looks so much bigger on her : than it ever did on Frederika. : That's so strange because I also noticed : that with other tiara-wearers from the : new(er) generation. : Camilla with the Delhi Durbar or the : Greville Tiara looked so much more over the : top with these than Elizabeth did. : Maxima wearing the Mellerio Ruby Tiara and : later the Begeer-Tiara made the Tiaras look : so huge while on Beatrix and Juliana these : looked just normal or small even. : Same with the Rubies in Denmark, first time : I saw them on Mary (eve of her wedding) I : was stunned, overwhelmed. Not to say they : did not look good on Ingrid but it's just as : if all these Tiaras have grown.... : : : :
