The use of the turquoise bandeau is rather mysterious to me. We know that it was worn in the 1920’s by then Princess Ingrid (in the lovely portrait in Swedish court dress) and by Crown Princess Märtha (at the wedding of Princess Astrid with Leopold). Than there is a gap of around 70 years in which it isn’t seen. And finally Queen Margrethe wears it for the first time in South Africa in 1996. Since than she has worn it in Tanzania (2008), Vietnam (2009) and in 2011 at an incoming State Visit from South Korea. (Please correct me if I missed something.) I wonder why it wasn’t seen for so long? Even if Queen Ingrid didn’t like it for herself, it would have been very appropriate for her young daughters. And as we know, she didn’t mind lending them eg. the Baden palmette or the star tiaras. --Previous Message-- : Thankx a lot, amazing tiara on an very lovely : princess :
