Her father, King Gustav VI. Adolf of Sweden, died in September 1973. Maybe she inherited the tiara from his estate and passed it to QMII? Though that still leaves a gap of twenty years it would explain why the young Danish princesses never wore it. --Previous Message-- : The use of the turquoise bandeau is rather : mysterious to me. We know that it was worn : in the 1920’s by then Princess Ingrid (in : the lovely portrait in Swedish court dress) : and by Crown Princess Märtha (at the wedding : of Princess Astrid with Leopold). Than there : is a gap of around 70 years in which it : isn’t seen. And finally Queen Margrethe : wears it for the first time in South Africa : in 1996. Since than she has worn it in : Tanzania (2008), Vietnam (2009) and in 2011 : at an incoming State Visit from South Korea. : (Please correct me if I missed something.) : I wonder why it wasn’t seen for so long? : Even if Queen Ingrid didn’t like it for : herself, it would have been very appropriate : for her young daughters. And as we know, she : didn’t mind lending them eg. the Baden : palmette or the star tiaras. : : : --Previous Message-- : Thankx a lot, amazing tiara on an very : lovely : princess : : :
