Maybe it's obvious but I want to note a special attention Queen Juliana gives to the golden fabric (or she had very good stylists even then). Her daughter works this detail also with heavier brocades and tapestries that have an "eastern" or "highly ethnic" feel. I know we love the jewels but fabrics and dress styling deserve credit for making or breaking a "royal appearance". So many royal outfits/fabric are beyond what I can imagine adorning myself with. At my office job I just don't need such attire.
What a lovely use of the golden fabric that might have been a gift to the royals. The draping over the skirt, to take advantage of the salvage edging, hints at its origins and reminds me that she is an ambassador for human kind and our occupations.
Thank you to all on this board for an opportunity to share in the delight in making ourselves fancy.
