I find it fascinating that such a versatile piece has not been touched for more than 40 years accept from the pendants to make some earrings. What's with this Parure? Besides the fact that it is not a matching parure...
--Previous Message-- : Thank you Tamara! : : Below a scan from a well known book by René : Brus. : It clearly shows how versatile this 'Laca' : really is! : : : : : --Previous Message-- : No no...the only drops that we were : discussing : were the ones take from the Bow corsage....I : never said anything about the earrings of : Queen Juliana... : : Actually thank you for posting both : photos...the 2nd one clearly confirms my : findings in the above post : : : : Dutch archive photo collection is : amazing!!!...why in the world other Royal : houses not releasing the same amount of : photos as Dutch Royals did? : : : : --Previous Message-- : Is it not possible that the discussed drops : are the ones Queen Juliana used as earrings : in combination with the Stuart parure? : : The earrings in these pictures look very : heavy, and they have a sort of hook around : the ear. : (zoom by clicking on the picture) : : : : : : : : --Previous Message-- : Johan..and what do you base your conclusions : from? : : Here is my proof...and explanation as to why : I believe that the drops ARE from the bow : brooch. : : If you look at the 'setting' of the earring, : that already tells you that they are : old...that's how old bezel set diamonds were : sat back in the day. : : In addition, if you look at the teardrop : stones they always look cloudy on the : photos, that is because there are 'rose cut' : diamonds, which also gives out the age of : the piece. : : : I enlarged older photo of Queen Wilhelmina : to show that the size of stones on the drops : are identical to Maxima's..even : enlarged...and as you can see Maxima's drops : are not as small as they might have appeared : before...The drops on the bow brooch start : from (left) smaller, medium, large...I : believe that Maxima's earrings are the : 'outer' smaller diamonds from the brooch. : : : CP Maxima always wear these drops on very : important occasions...one of them was during : Prinsjesdag...as you can see in this photo, : the diamonds are not small.... : : : If you look at zoomed in photo of Queen : Juliana, you can see that the drops are the : same as Maxima's earrings... If Maxima : decided to place those drops as corsage, the : diameter of the stones will be the : same...maybe someone can photoshop photos i : posted to show what I mean : : : If you look at this photo I posted today, do : you see how drop are "raised" : ...meaning, they have a high setting...well, : Maxima's earrings have raised gold setting : underneath silver bezel setting...they are : made that way, so when its worn on bow : corsage, the light get underneath it. : : : : : now I would like to see your proof : : : : --Previous Message-- : They are not part of the bow-brooch but new : additions. the triangular (heart-shaped) : diamonds of the bow-brooch are much larger : and older. They allready belonged to the : previous Anne, Princess Royal. : : --Previous Message-- : no no Henri...I was thinking of these... : : : : --Previous Message-- : Maybe Tamara is thinking about the large : pearshaped pendants we have seen as : earhangers so now and then. : These do not belong to the Stuart Parure but : to Queen Emma's (also long not seen) large : diamond devant-de-corsange in neo-grèque : style (1879). : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
