The Archives of the firm Royal Begeer are being digitalized at the moment and some old black and white picture of the Ornate Pearl Tiara frequently worn by HM Queen Beatrix surfaced.
Els Smit, who has considerably contributed to the knowlegde about Dutch Royal Jewelery, writes about this in an article in "Vorsten".
The article should be read, so I didn't want to spill the beans here in my initial post... but some other posters don't seem to have any scrupules with that... The evidence nevertheless surely points towards the fact that the Tiara (that is probarbly the most estheticaly pleasing of all Dutch Tiaras) is of Dutch origine and probarbly wasn't made in Germany at all. Which also leads to my conclusion that Beatrix' 2 most favorite Tiaras are both from Dutch origine and (also remarkable) made by the same firm.
This is (if one is interested in royal jewels) hot news and not something already known by anyone (contrary to whatever they might say).
--Previous Message-- : Sorry, folks, but as I have no access to : article in VORSTEN, this discussion is : confusing me. : Do I understand correctly, that the author : of the article dicovered the b/w pic of the : tiara in the Royal Begeers archives? But do : the archive also confirm that it is from the : year 1897? If I understood the discussion : correctly, there is only the photo and no : accompanying documentation from the : archives. So that could mean that Begeers : either made the tiara completely new, or : they altered an existing tiara (eg. from : Queen Sophie), couldn’t it? : Could anyone please enlighten me? Thanks in : advance! : :
