I think the statement Charlene is making is that she IS the PRINCESS and wife of a sovereign of one of the most ancient royal families, and that she doesn't need a tiara or an order to prove it.
She doesn't look masculine to me AT ALL, just look at that beautiful gown and hairdo, she does glamorous when SHE wishes and doesn't when she wishes. She didn't disappoint in my opinion -although I wanted to see her in a tiara- she did what she had to do which is wearing a gown and covering her arms which shows respect to the place she's in and to her hosts but she didn't have to flash her jewelry -which she owns- and order -which she received a year after her marriage- to be "Princess".
"Don't know. As much as I love to see jewels worn, I can't help but finding Princess Charlene's consistent refusal to wear them somehow impressive. With her restrained and rather noble posture she looked every inch a sovereign prince's wife, while others behaved like Hollywood starlets in borrowed jewels."
