As an esthetician I find the necklace ugly, as a jewelry lover I find the pearls amazing and as a Dane I find the piece historically important. I think this is one of the most expensive and rich royal jewels ever created in Denmark, and it shows the wealth of the Oldenburg dynasty, of which the necklace's giver Frederik VII was the last king. The copy of the Dagmar Cross is also interesting since it is a tradition in Denmark that you present a gold Dagmar Cross to small girls at their baptisms. I don't know if Queen Mary or Queen Elizabeth ever wore the piece, but I can provide this sweet drawing from Her Majesty The Queen of Denmark's Library. It shows the moment when Frederik VII present the necklace to Princess Alexandra before her wedding. --Previous Message-- : I'm trying to pin down more information on : this amazing piece of jewelry. We all know : that the necklace entered into the Windsor : vaults through Queen Alexandra upon her : marriage to Edward VII.
