It has always bothered me the way the necklace looked when worn by Queen Elizabeth II. The lower all diamond swags were caught up in Her Majesty's décolletage. In the "Queens Diamonds" there is a wonderful photo of the back of the necklace. The photo shows very clearly that the necklace has been turned into a jig-saw puzzle, every element can be detached. It also looks as though the diamond and pearl swags can also be lengthened or shortened very easily. With this in mind I started playing around with the necklace. Here is the "before" here is the after I scanned the original picture from "The Queens Diamonds" Laurence --Previous Message-- : : I totally agree with you. : Even Queen Alexandra herself had her gift : altered to be able to remove parts. : So a temporary removal of part seems quite : OK to me, so long as the parts are not : permanently parted and the entire piece can : be put back together : : --Previous Message-- : I have always hated the way the swags look : in : the left hand picture when the pearl drops : are removed and the Dagmar Cross is : detached.
