In fact the Dutch collection has at least one set of fire opals (orange coloured), I am not sure if two sets. It comprises earrings, brooch and bracelet. The then Queen Beatrix and Pss Máxima wore them often. I have no acess to my pictures now, but certainly some of our kind fellow posters must have pics of these .
--Previous Message-- : Remarkable, opals. I have never seen opals in : the Dutch royal collection before. This : seems to be odd since some of the few jewels : left by Queen Anna Pavlovna to her son King : Willem III were the opals she had inherited : from her mother Maria Feodorovna! I wonder : if these few opals are from the inheritance. : The quality seems not to be very impressive. : : : --Previous Message-- : no..I believe Queen Beatrix wore this brooch : quite a few times...I will find the picture. : : : --Previous Message-- : Great picture! Is that a new addition to the : collection of insect brooches? The most : ideal was when the Queen had a : diamond-and-aquamarine butterfly but the : colour scheme of this diamond-and-opal : brooch fits nicely with the rest. : : Interesting, how would the Queen have got : the idea: 'Hey... I will stick a diamond : butterfly near my ponytail!".... : : : : : :
