Thank you Tamara! Of course John R's fabulous site had plenty of pics of the fire opals! That's what one gets for writing in a hurry and with little sleep.
--Previous Message-- : you can always refer to John R's wonderful : site... : : here is the page dedicated to those fire : opals you are mentioning : : : http://dutchroyaljewels.nl/Diamond_Fire_Opals.htm : : : : : : : : --Previous Message-- : In fact the Dutch collection has at least : one : set of fire opals (orange coloured), I am : not sure if two sets. It comprises earrings, : brooch and bracelet. The then Queen Beatrix : and Pss Máxima wore them often. : I have no acess to my pictures now, but : certainly some of our kind fellow posters : must have pics of these . : : : : --Previous Message-- : Remarkable, opals. I have never seen opals : in : the Dutch royal collection before. This : seems to be odd since some of the few jewels : left by Queen Anna Pavlovna to her son King : Willem III were the opals she had inherited : from her mother Maria Feodorovna! I wonder : if these few opals are from the inheritance. : The quality seems not to be very impressive. : : : --Previous Message-- : no..I believe Queen Beatrix wore this brooch : quite a few times...I will find the picture. : : : --Previous Message-- : Great picture! Is that a new addition to the : collection of insect brooches? The most : ideal was when the Queen had a : diamond-and-aquamarine butterfly but the : colour scheme of this diamond-and-opal : brooch fits nicely with the rest. : : Interesting, how would the Queen have got : the idea: 'Hey... I will stick a diamond : butterfly near my ponytail!".... : : : : : : : : : :
