Right! Thank you all. I was thinking of the milky type of opals, but of course there are these nice pieces of fire opals which are often seen. Unfortunately, it is not clear what type of opals Willem III inherited from his mother. So it is difficult to say whether the stones are historic pieces or later acquisitions. The milky opals seem to be more rare in the collection, and the butterfly brooch looks older than the fire opal pieces. --Previous Message-- : Yes indeed they are.
