Bazinga/Waste of money Archived Message

haha, bazinga! I'm going to use that one. Real is indeed not the issue. Maxima could have ordered the same jewels in India - just like the previous owner did - for much less than a 5th of what she paid now. That's wasting money. --Previous Message-- : : I have to admit I'm a "tutti : frutti" fan. Queen Maxima's necklace : and bracelet are pretty, but somehow the : stones seem to be more muted or dare I say : it, unpolished. It just didn't seem to say : "Bazinga!!" to me although I'm : hardly a jewelry expert. : O/T Earlier this year I bought a tutti : frutti bracelet from a Thai jeweler. I : absolutely love it and I paid a pretty good : price for it. My women friends are always in : awe when I where and ask if it's : "real". I just give the eye roll : look meaning, "are you kidding that you : have to ask!" : I hope none of them reads this Board. : If I was offered Queen Maxima's tutti : frutti jewels I wouldn't turn down the : chance. : : : http://www.royal-magazin.de/gallerie/tutti-frutti.htm : --Previous Message-- : Especially for the bracelet she paid WAY too : much. Retail price at Bijenkorf cannot be : compared with auction houses offering second : hand jewellery. The slogan 'Diamonds are : forever' was introduced by De Beers to : prevent people selling back their diamonds : to jewellers because they are worthless : compared to what it was originally being : sold for. This article from 1982 is still a : must read: : : http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/1982/02/have-you-ever-tried-to-sell-a-diamond/304575/ : : : --Previous Message-- : That is true: there are bigger diamonds in : that bracelet from the De Bijenkorf : Department Store. But there are more : diamonds in the Tutti Frutti bracelet. So my : estimation of € 15.000,-- for the diamonds : alone, while having no idea for the whole : bracelet with all gemstones, is not too : overdone. : : I think Máxima had a bargain actually with : her € 25.000,-- for a bracelet. Look at : these auction results at Christie's: : : US $ 1,753,313.-- (sale 1400, lot 285) : : : US $ 1,070,275.-- (sale 1397 / lot 223) : : : US $ 962,500.-- (sale 2472 / lot 333) : : : This was the cheapest one at Christie's, but : with very spare diamonds: : : US $ 18,546.-- (sale 1343 / lot 14) : : : : : : : : :
