Wow what an amazing photo of Dona Isabel! Never seen it, thanks!! It reminds me of a XIXth century grand royal lady posing for a photograph. It reminds me of Queen Amélia's equestrian portraits. Totally regal, in my opinion. Now you puzzled me...at first glance I would say it didn't look like a brooch, but then looking again it could in fact be a brooch with a particular design which I think is used to hold the collar straight. It reminds me an old design I've seen somewhere, I think its used in equestrian old costumes... That would make sence since Dona Isabel is a keen horse rider and in the pic she is dressed in the traditional old fashion horse riding ladies costume. And the earrings are new to me also, and as they seem to match the design and colour of the brooch, meaning they could be a set. Perhaps this set was an adequate gift for the Duchess, as said above, a keen horse rider? (just speculating of course). By the colour of the brooch and earrings, they seems to have garnets? I'm starting to think that is in fact a brooch, but with a particular shape, and a specific use in the collar for this type of costume. I'm not sure we would see it worn diferently. But, if in fact its a brooch, we could consider it brooch number 11! As to the Douro brooch I think its a pearl and Diamond brooch, and the one worn at the wedding of Ricardo Pereira looks like having rubis and emeralds, but its only what I can see from the pics in the magazines (small and not very clear). I would love that Dona Isabel would wear them again and we could see bigger pics. I have several less known earrings of Dona Isabel in my computor files (and certainly more in my paper archives, where I have to dig in) but I will wait for your thread on the Braganza earrings, by then I hope I found some more. It will be fun to compare our archives . --Previous Message-- : So we have 10 known brooches! : I just discovered this lovely picture of HRH : in my archives: do you think it counts as : brooch? : : : : Thanks for the information about the Douro : brooch.
